The 3rd Annual Flair Cares Spring Food Drive continues through May 31 at all five Flair locations, Santa Monica, Valencia, Studio City, Burbank, and Redondo Beach. This year we are supporting four nonprofits in their efforts to feed and care for those in our communities who need our support.
Nonprofits
- Founded in 1983, the all-volunteer North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry operates as part of the San Fernando Valley Interfaith Council, Inc. The organization distributes food twice a week, 52 weeks a year to anyone in need. It relies on donations from local churches, individuals, schools, and community organizations like Flair Cleaners.
- Recognizing the need for a centralized source of services for the less fortunate in the community, the Ministerial Association and the Burbank Coordinating Council founded the Burbank Temporary Aid Center in 1974. The center provides the poor, working poor, low-income seniors, and homeless of the community with basic services. The center’s 75 volunteers provide food, utility assistance, transportation assistance, emergency shelter, medical assistance, and holiday outreach.
- The Westside Food Bank provides food to individuals in need on the west side of Los Angeles County. Additionally, they provide food to about 70 social services agencies in the area. As a result, they can focus on other programs that help low income families like job placement, housing, education and more. The Westside Food Bank secures about half of the food it distributes through donations and food drives and produce through the statewide “Farm to Family” distribution program. The remainder is purchased from wholesale merchants.
- The Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry helps alleviate hunger by distributing food on a short-term supplemental, need basis to those in need including elderly with no transportation. The food pantry’s Senior Outreach Mobile Distribution Program delivers food to low-income seven senior citizen apartment complexes where residents can get what they need.
